When Juan Carlos Lacal and his two brothers came to the United States in 1986, they knew nothing about baking. Today, BakeryCorp and its 38 employees produce about 140 products in its 27,000-sq.-ft. facility. Although not the biggest in the industry, the Miami, Fla.-based company has expanded about 50 times over the last 22 years. Flowers Completes ButterKrust Acquisition Flowers Foods has completed the acquisition of ButterKrust Bakery in Lakeland, Fla. In the transaction, Thomasville, Ga.-based Flowers purchased all of the issued and outstanding capital stock of the holding company of ButterKrust for cash.
