The international show will run before Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany.

In an effort to avoid a conflict with Oktoberfest, iba 2012 will run Sept. 17-22 right before the world’s largest beer party in Munich, Germany begins. The German Bakers' Confederation and GHM Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen note the World of Baking show will end on the first day of Oktoberfest. In the past, iba shows overlapped in part with the festival.

After last year’s show in Düsseldorf, iba organizers announced they wanted to make Munich the permanent home for the baking event, which runs every three years. According to the organizers, the earlier dates will reduce the cost of housing while still giving attendees a chance to combine iba with a trip to the Oktoberfest.

"We are pleased that this flexible agreement with Messe München as the center organizer has been reached in the wake of the decision to make Munich the long-term home of iba,” says Peter Becker, chairman of the German Bakers' Confederation. “We have also taken out an option to hold iba 2015 in the same period in relation to the Oktoberfest.”
