American Bakers Association adds Kevin Phillips, vice president of operations support with Safeway’s manufacturing and logistics division to its board of directors. Phillips replaces retiring director Chris Moloney, vice president of Safeway’s bakery business unit.

The American Bakers Association, Washington, D.C., announces the addition of a new member to its board of directors. Kevin Phillips, vice president of operations support with Safeway’s manufacturing and logistics division, joined the board as of the New Year. Phillips replaces director Chris Moloney, vice president of Safeway’s bakery business unit, who has served since 2000. Moloney will be retiring in the next few months.

“Chris Moloney has provided tremendous service and active engagement on ABA’s board for the last decade. He has been a great source of insight, guidance and leadership, and his voice will be missed greatly,” says ABA president and CEO Robb MacKie. “He will be replaced by a very capable successor who we are excited to welcome to the group. We look forward to working alongside Mr. Phillips and Safeway to promote the interests of all sectors of baking in the coming years.”

ABA’s board comprises leaders from all segments of the baking industry who help develop consensus policies that improve the government environment and overall health of the baking industry. Allen Shiver, president of Flowers Foods, is serving as the board’s chairman through March 2012.
