Effective Jan. 1, 2011, AIB will implement a new scoring system that is described in the AIB Consolidated Standards for Inspection Scoring booklet, appended to the end of each pdf document of the Consolidated Standards for Inspection.

AIB International, Manhattan, Kan., is set to adopt a new scoring system described in its AIB Consolidated Standards for Inspection Scoring booklet. The scoring described in the booklet supersedes all previous scoring methods used in AIB standards, effective Jan. 1, 2011. The method is such an improvement and was driven by independent research of customer requirements that showed auditor consistency in scoring and report writing was critical to confidence in third-party audit programs, according to the association.

The new method aims to build greater consistency and reduce subjectivity in its scoring system, regardless of the location or the auditor. The revised scoring method assigns point values for the severity and frequency of observations within each of the five inspection categories. Only facilities that have a score falling within the top 25% of all scores will receive a Recognition of High Achievement-Superior award. A Recognition of Accomplishment document will be provided to all other facilities scoring between a passing score of 700 and the applicable Superior score.

AIB has also created a free 40-minute recorded webinar to further explain the new scoring system. To view the webinar, go to https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/473651953.
