Flowers Bakeries, regional baker of fresh breads, rolls and snack cakes under such brands asNature’s Own, has promoted Bobby Harrison to president of Flowers Baking Co. of Denton, Texas. Harrison has been serving as president of Flowers Baking, the Tyler, Texas-based operating segment of Flowers Foods, Thomasville, Ga., and replaces Keith Wheeler, who has been named president of Flowers’ Phoenix, Ariz., facility.

Harrison will oversee manufacturing and sales operations serving Texas, Oklahoma and portions of Kansas and New Mexico with fresh bakery foods sold through retail and foodservice customers.

Harrison joined Flowers in 1980 as a route salesperson in Paris, Texas. Since then, he has served in a number of key sales positions, including vice president of sales in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Tyler and Pine Bluff, Ark. He was promoted to president of Flowers’ Tyler bakery in 2000.

Flowers also promoted John Gilmer, Jr. to president of Flowers Baking Co. of Tyler, Texas. Gilmer has been serving as vice president of sales for Flowers’ bakery in Baton Rouge, La., and replaces Harrison.

Gilmer will oversee manufacturing and sales operations serving portions of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma with fresh bakery foods sold through retail and foodservice customers. He started his baking career in 1986. After working for three regional bakers, he joined Flowers in 1998 as director of sales in Memphis, Tenn. Since 2004, he has served as vice president of sales for Flowers bakeries located in Lynchburg, Va., and in Baton Rouge.
