Caravan Ingredients, Inc., Lenexa, Kan., scored five superior ratings from AIB (American Institute of Baking) International during five GMP audits recently conducted at manufacturing and distribution facilities in Kansas City, Kan.; Grandview, Mo.; Fairfield, N.J.; and Dolton, Ill.

The comprehensive inspection evaluates the adequacy of operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, cleaning practices, integrated pest management and adequacy of prerequisite and food safety programs; the superior rating is the highest that can be attained. According to AIB International, high scores on this audit shows that a supplier complies with food safety regulations and is committed to providing safe, high-quality food products to consumers.

"Caravan Ingredients is very pleased with our 2010 AIB ratings," explains Jeff Ottarson, Caravan’s director of quality. "This is a clear signal that our quality culture has shifted in a positive direction to meet the challenge of today’s regulatory and customer expectations.”

The rigorous GMP Inspection evaluates the adequacy of operational methods and personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, cleaning practices and many other critical factors.
