Pastry of Chicago, the French Pastry School and Fresno, Calif.-based California Raisin Marketing Board are staging an amateur raisin pie competition Sept. 18 from 1-4 p.m. at Whole Foods on Canal & 12th Street in Chicago.
The event will include Andrea Spring, winner of the “best of show” national pie cooking contest, providing her award-winning chocolate raisin walnut pie, along with in-store demonstrations by the French Pastry School and free pie, prepared in advance by the French Pastry School, located in Chicago.
Examples of the entries in this contest include Raisin and Maple Crunch, Golden Raisin, Raisin and Apple Strudel, Raisin Walnut and Raisin and Sour Cream Dream.
