Plant Expansion News from Ingredient Providers
To meet growing demand, ROHA Food Colors expands its American facility and completes a $15 million expansion at its world headquarters in Mumbai, India. Meanwhile, Butter Buds Food Ingredients buys a 76,000-sq.-ft. facility that will broaden production capacity and warehouse and office space.
ROHA Food Colors, St. Louis, Mo., will soon break ground on a $5 million expansion of its American facility to meet growing demand in the United States and Canada. The company is also completing a $15 million expansion at its world headquarters in Mumbai, India.
“ROHA has been manufacturing FD&C liquid and dispersion colors at the St. Louis facility since 2003 and exempt (natural) colors since 2009,” explains Rohit Tibrewala, chief executive officer. “This plant expansion will accommodate the significant growth we anticipate in these products. Increased production capacity will support the future growth plans that we have in the U.S. and provide us with some capabilities to better serve our customers.”
ROHA has been growing at about 25% per year since 2006, and expects the same growth rate globally for the next four to five years. Construction in India will meet the growing global demand for ROHA products, including FD&C dyes, lakes and exempt (natural) colors.
Construction at the St. Louis location will begin on Sept. 1 and will be finished by Jan. 31, 2012. The expansion currently underway in India will be completed by the end of this year.
On another expansion project, Butter Buds Food Ingredients, Racine, Wis., completed the purchase of a 76,000-sq.-ft. facility adjacent to its current facility. The company will use the space to broaden production capacity and add warehouse and office space. “This purchase comes at a time of robust growth in Butter Buds’ business,” says general manager Bill Buhler. “And it paves the way for additional growth in the future.”
The division of Cumberland Packing Corp. manufactures an array of natural dairy concentrates under the Butter Buds brand. Along with concentrated forms of butter, cream and cheese, Butter Buds offers concentrates such as Butter Buds -Bacon, Olive Oil Buds, CocoaButter Buds and Dried Beer Extract.
