Wisconsin-based Kerry Americas’ specialty-ingredients manufacturing plant in Owen, Wis., is now certified organic. The facility, specializing in manufacturing cheese and dairy ingredients, became certified by Agrisystems International, a USDA Accredited Certifying Agent, in May. The Owen facility is the fifth Kerry manufacturing plant certified to produce organic ingredients. Kerry’s other organic ingredient facilities are located in Kent, Wash.; Hudson, Iowa; Turtle Lake, Wis., and Winton, Iowa.
Nature’s Best, a leading natural products distributor, will act as primary distributor for Sweet Abandon Personal Cakes in the western region. Sweet Abandon is a new line of premium, personal-portion, bakery-style cakes from Benchmark Foods, LLC.
Kansas City-based Cereal Ingredients, Inc., manufacturers of Flav-R-Bites, Flav-R-Swirl and other premium-quality dry ingredients, recently received double quality certification. The National Food Processors Award was a new challenge for CII. Cereal Ingredients also was proud to receive a “superior” rating from American Institute of Baking for the fourth consecutive year.
The acquisition of North American specialty phosphates business, Rhodia, by Bain Capital has been completed. The company launches operations as an independent business under a new corporate name — Innophos, Inc., signifying the innovation in phosphates that has been the cornerstone of the company’s success.

Intralox, Inc., Harahan, La., added Scott Baird to its team as a new Spiral Application Manager.   Bunge North America, Danville, Ill., named Richard Goodman as senior vice president and general manager of Bunge Oils. Baltimore Spice, Inc.,   Owings Mills, Md., promoted Chris Rodski to vice president of finance and administration and Gary Ramsy to vice president of sales responsible for industrial and foodservice sales. Jennifer Charles has been appointed as strategic account manager and Donna Sherman as marketing coordinator. Thermo Electron Corp., Minneapolis, appointed Mike Jost as president of the weighing and inspection business unit within the Process Instruments Division, where he will be responsible for overseeing all facets of worldwide operations, including manufacturing and distribution, research and development, as well as sales and marketing.   Roman Meal Co., Tacoma, Wash., named Gary L. Jensen as executive vice president and chief operating officer where he will have direct responsibility for the company’s sales, marketing, quality, research and development departments.
