American Institute of Baking, Manhattan, Kan. — James Munyon is named president of the AIB, effective Jan. 31. Munyon, currently a senior executive with J.R. Simplot Co. and chairman of the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI), replaces Virgil Smail, who joined Kansas State University in Manhattan as head of the department of Grain Science and Industry. As president, Munyon will be responsible for all programs, products and services used by the institute’s more than 900 baking and food industry members worldwide.

Flowers Foods Bakeries Group, Thomasville, Ga. — Steve R. Bordeaux is promoted to president of the company’s bakery in Opelika, Ala.

Formost Packaging Machines, Inc., Woodinville, Wash. — Michael Wierman is named as engineering manager and will be responsible for directing and implementing the company’s engineering efforts.

Intralox, L.L.C., Harahan, La. — Mariano Gutierrez joins as account manager for the Bakery Team.

Juanita’s Foods, Wilmington, Calif. — Ricardo Alvarez, president and CEO, is appointed to the National Food Processors Association’s (NFPA) board of directors.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc., Winston-Salem, N.C. — William L. Davis will take on the role of senior vice president, human resources and organizational development.

Otis Spunkmeyer, Inc., San Leandro, Calif. — Pamela Shayne Murray has been promoted to education specialist – West Coast region. Murray will oversee development of the company’s K-12 business. Christopher Dean is named as regional vice president for the Eastern Division for Foodservice. Chris McFadden joins as director of sales for the K-12 School Team. Matthew McCormick is welcomed as director of sales-strategic customers and will be in charge of increasing retail sales.

Panera Bread Co., St. Louis — Paul Twohig resigned as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Three other Panera executives will immediately assume Twohig’s responsibilities.

Sara Lee Corp., Chicago — Christopher J. Fraleigh is appointed to chief customer and marketing officer.
