Dallas-based OCTAL, a producer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and global leader in the packaging industry, recently completed a second expansion phase at its state-of-the-art PET complex in Salalah, Oman. Phase two capacity takes total system output to 920,000 tons per year of PET bottle-grade resin. Full production began in August.

In addition to PET resin, OCTAL manufactures DPET sheet, a direct-to-sheet polyester sheet used by food processors to package yogurt, meat and cheeses.

“OCTAL is building its brand on a truly global scale,” said Vivek Harkauli, director of marketing. “PET is becoming the unanimous choice for reliable, clear rigid packaging with a wide range of applications, and our aim is to move into market leadership positions with multinational giants such as Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Colgate and P&G. By growing our very profitable PET resin business, we have established a strong and stable base from which to drive targeted expansion into markets such as North and South America.”
