GOED names 2012-2013 board

Salt Lake City-based GOED, the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3, has appointed its 2012-2013 board of directors. The new chair is Leslie van der Meulen, vice president-business development at Aurora Algae Inc. Vice chair is Gertjan de Koning, chief operating officer at DSM Composite Resins AG. Gerard Bannenberg, business development manager at Solutex, is secretary-treasurer.

Serving one-year terms (until Sept. 30, 2013) on the board of directors are Todd Norton, Aker Biomarine ASA; Leslie Van der Meulen, Aurora Algae; Shaher Khan, Axellus; Gertjan de Koning, DSM; Albert Strube, BASF; Graeme Kenny, Croda; Patrick Veau, DuPont; Baldur Hjaltason, EPAX; Atle Jacobsen, GC Rieber Oils; Jorge Brahm, Golden Omega; Olav Sandnes, Marine Ingredients; Hans de Wit, Marvesa; Carol Locke, OmegaBrite; Matt Phillips, Omega Protein/Cyvex Nutrition; Gunnar Berge, Pronova; Aryan van den Blink, Smit & Zoon; and Gerard Bannenberg, Solutex.

GOED is an association of international processors, refiners, manufacturers, distributors, marketers, retailers and supporters of products containing eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) omega 3 fatty acids. Its objectives are to promote and protect the category, educate consumers about the health benefits of EPA/DHA and work with government groups, the health care community and the industry, while setting high standards for its business sector.
