Agropur purchases Foremost Farms USA’s dry-blending business

Agropur of Longueuil, Quebec, a major player in the North American dairy industry, has purchased Foremost Farms USA’s dry-blending business, which includes Reddi-Sponge and PZ 44 dough conditioners and Econo Bake, Dairy Bake, Nutrimix and Baker’s Special milk replacer blends.

Main Street Ingredients, part of Agropur, will commercialize these brands. Based in La Crosse, Wis., Main Street Ingredients provides high-quality food ingredients to the dairy, nutritional and food processing industries. Applications include frozen desserts, bakery and confections.

“The ingredients business is an important sector for the future growth of our organization in the U.S., and this investment, which is in keeping with Agropur’s strategies, will allow us to grow in the baking and blending industry,” says Agropur CEO Robert Coallier.

Foremost Farms, which is based in Baraboo, Wis., and Agropur will work together to ensure a smooth transition for customers. “Our focus will continue to be our customers, innovation and the ongoing development of our branded products,” states Reneck Cayen, vice president of ingredients.
