IBIE 2013 show puts the spotlight on sustainability

Organizers of the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE), together with Snack Food & Wholesale Bakery, will again use the B.E.S.T. in Baking program at this year’s IBIE show, Oct. 6-9, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, to recognize suppliers that foster energy conservation, reduced water usage, a decrease in landfill waste, healthy living and/or a reduction of the overall impact on the environment.

IBIE exhibitors that supply equipment, packaging, ingredients, products or services that align with the objectives of the B.E.S.T. in Baking program are encouraged to participate in the program by filling out an entry form consisting of open-ended questions regarding how their entries are helping the baking industry become more environmentally sustainable. A panel of judges consisting of experts in sustainability and/or baking best practices will evaluate the environmental impact, feasibility, return on investment, innovation and practical application to the baking industry of each submission.

Entrants that demonstrate significant environmental sustainability will be recognized in upcoming pre-show promotions, on the IBIE website (www.ibie2013.org), in a press release, on the IBIE’s social media channels and in an onsite display area at the IBIE 2013 show in Las Vegas. Entries are due June 1, 2013.
