Jim McCarthy, President, North American Millers’ Association

The North American Millers’ Association (NAMA), Washington, names Jim McCarthy president. He succeeds Mary Waters, who resigned from NAMA earlier this year, and will join the organization in early October.

“Jim’s leadership and association management skills will be a valuable asset to NAMA and the future of our association,” says NAMA chairman Jim Meyer, who led the search process. “He joins an experienced and dynamic staff that will make for a very strong team to address our issues today and for the future. He is bringing a new energy to the association.”

McCarthy joins NAMA from the Snack Food Association (SFA). He began his tenure at SFA in 1991 as the vice president, government relations, and was named SFA president and CEO in 1999. For more than 20 years, he represented the snack food industry in Washington, creating strategic responses to and successfully guiding members through state and federal issues of importance to the industry.

“I am looking forward to working with the NAMA Board and members to chart a new course for the association’s future,” says McCarthy. “I have worked with NAMA’s excellent staff on a number of occasions and I am eager to join the team and learn more about the industry.”
