The American Heart Association (AHA) recently certified nine Fisher Nuts products as heart-healthy, according to John B. Sanfilippo & Son Inc., Elgin, Ill., which processes, markets and distributes Fisher Nuts. AHA’s Heart-Check mark will appear on select packages of Fisher Nuts Pecans (halves, chips and chopped), Walnuts (halves and pieces, chips and chopped) and Almonds (whole, sliced and slivered), signifying they meet the association’s requirements to be certified as a heart-healthy food.

“This American Heart Association Heart-Check certification gives our consumers the confidence that they can make a heart-healthy choice by adding Fisher Nuts to any meal or recipe," says Howard Brandeisky, senior vice president, global marketing and customer solutions. “We’re honored to be affiliated with such a long-standing, respected organization like the American Heart Association that raises awareness about the importance of heart health.”

The Heart-Check Food Certification Program, which began in 1995, is one of the longest running established food certification programs. The Heart-Check mark identifies for shoppers foods that can be the building blocks to a heart-healthy diet. For more information, visit www.heartcheckmark.org/guidelines.
