ABA proposes new officers

The American Bakers Association (ABA) announces its proposed new officers for its 2014-2016 board of directors. The candidates will be considered at the All Membership Meeting on March 16, held during the 2014 ABA Convention in Scottsdale, Ariz. Appointments will be effective once approved by the ABA board of governors at the meeting.

The following individuals will be considered for ABA’s board of directors:

Rich Scalise, CEO, Hearthside Food Solutions, will replace Howard R. "Robin" Alton III, president and CEO, Pan-O-Gold Baking Co., as ABA chairman.

Fred Penny, president, Bimbo Bakeries USA, will continue his position as the first vice chairman.

Past ABA chairman Allen Shiver, president and CEO, Flowers Foods, will serve as the second vice chairman.

Erin Sharp, vice president, manufacturing, The Kroger Co., will serve as treasurer, replacing longtime ABA treasurer Albert Lepage, Flowers Foods, who will be retiring in the coming months.

Robin Alton will assume the role of immediate past chairman, replacing Allen Shiver.
