C.H. Guenther & Son Inc., San Antonio, announces its acquisition of Tribeca Oven Inc., a New Jersey-based manufacturer and marketer of artisan breads and rolls. Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

“Peter Lobel, the Tribeca founder, and his executive team, have built a highly successful artisan bread business around quality products and an engaged and committed workforce,” says Dale W. Tremblay, president and CEO of CHG. “We strongly believe that with CHG resources and depth, coupled with the strengths of Tribeca, we can accelerate the already strong growth and expansion of the business.”

Lobel founded Tribeca in New York City in 1988 as a fresh bread bakery. In 2005, Tribeca transitioned from a fresh bakery to frozen par-baked, and Lobel brought in two executives to help build and expand the business—Marc Essenfeld, CEO, and George Erasmus, executive vice president of innovation. After several years of fine-tuning the business model and creating new opportunities for the company, the executive team designed and implemented a new state-of-the-art production line in 2011 to drive continued company growth and innovation.

Lobel remains as a consultant to Tremblay, while Essenfeld and Erasmus will continue in their executive leadership roles with Tribeca.
