Attendees at FMI Connect 2014—June 10-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago—will have the opportunity to experience what’s in store for packaging at retail, as product packaging and displays continue to play a critical role in consumers’ overall shopping experience.

Through an agreement between PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, Reston, Va., and FMI, the Food Marketing Institute, Arlington, Va., PMMI will present the PMMI—PACK EXPO Possibilities in Packaging Innovation Pavilion. Sponsored by International Paper, Kliklok-Woodman and Hub Folding, the pavilion will be built around a series of knowledge desks and an Innovation Stage theater, where subject matter experts will share their insights with attendees on topics such as sustainability, displays and design with impact, next generation packaging, and smart and active packaging.

“Packaging has become the key utility player on the food retailer team, offering innovative solutions that cover multiple areas, ensuring food safety, protecting quality of the product, enhancing customer convenience and inspiring creative merchandising,” says Leslie G. Sarasin, FMI president and CEO. “This makes co-locating FMI Connect with PMMI a strategically important partnership, giving attendees first-hand exposure to the ‘next generation’ innovations in packaging.”

“Packaging plays a critical role in the consumer marketplace,” says Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI. The PMMI–PACK EXPO Possibilities in Packaging Pavilion at FMI Connect will explore some of the ways packaging is engaging consumers in 2014 and how to make things like new packaging formats, graphics and new technologies work for your products.

“We envision the next generation of packaging helping food retailers better manage their costs, attract more customers, showcase their brand and boost their profits.”
