Pepperidge Farm Inc., Norwalk, CT, and Jacobson Co., Clive, IA, recently opened a 146,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Morrow, GA. Pepperidge Farm is an international commercial bakery known for its Milano and Sausalito cookies, Goldfish crackers, frozen puff pastry, frozen garlic loaves and Texas toasts, and more than 50 varieties of fresh-baked breads. Jacobson Cos. is a subsidiary of Norbert Dentressangle, a global, third-party logistics company.

The new warehouse will serve as a distribution and packaging site for several major Pepperidge Farm brands and becomes the company's first regional distribution center to handle both snacks and bread products. Additionally, the highly efficient cross-dock warehouse will function with a high level of case pick and will handle returns.

Future packing operations will include the creation of end-aisle displays, rainbow pallets and other value-added packaging services. The operation, which opened in May, is expected to create around 40 full-time jobs.

"We selected Jacobson for their strong experience in the food industry and their track record for providing outstanding customer service," says Brad Charles, senior director, planning & logistic for Pepperidge Farms. “This new warehouse is a key strategic investment for Pepperidge Farm and will support our distribution growth in the southeast region. The Jacobson Cos. team understands our priorities and demonstrated a refreshing 'can do' approach as we prepared to open the facility.”
