Equipment Snapshot: Key Technology recently introduced the VERYX digital sorting platform, a suite of belt- and chute-fed sorters fed by the company’s patented Chycane chute system that offer high-performance capabilities and share a common user interface. With all-sided surface inspection; multi-sensor Pixel Fusion that integrates input from multiple cameras and lasers in relation to each image pixel; and high-resolution cameras and laser sensors, the unit achieves new levels of detection and discrimination of foreign material and product defects, according to the company. Advanced auto-learn, self-adjusting capabilities and recipe-driven operation provide an easy and intuitive user experience, while a modular design enables food processors to easily upgrade their sorter in the field with the addition of more or different cameras, lasers or hyperspectral sensor technology. The VERYX platform is also designed to minimize sanitation requirements and simplify maintenance to reduce downtime and total cost of ownership. The platform offers widths ranging from 700 mm to 2100 mm for belt-fed and 700 mm to 1400 mm for chute-fed configurations. VERYX can be used to sort fresh, frozen and dried vegetables and fruits, processed potato products, nuts and other products.
