AMF Bakery Systems, Richmond, VA, has promoted Colin Powell to vice president global operations. He will be responsible for leading all aspects of solution delivery, including operations, project management and customer service to commercial bakers worldwide.

A 17-year company veteran, Powell has served in a variety of management positions at AMF’s headquarters in Richmond, culminating in his role leading operations for the Richmond plant. With the rapid growth and development throughout the Asia Pacific market and the proliferation of low-cost manufacturing in China, Powell agreed to lead AMF’s Asia Pacific operations, beginning in 2005.

“Colin was faced with an enormous challenge of leading the commercial operations at AMF’s Tianjin plant, in addition to our Singapore customer service office and the broader Asia Pacific sales team,” says Jason Word, AMF’s executive vice president. “Thanks to his leadership and the strong team he has built in the region, we have developed a thriving manufacturing base in China and are well-positioned to continue our growth throughout Asia Pacific, as well as other emerging markets.”

Powell will serve on AMF’s senior leadership team, focusing on driving operational excellence across the company’s multiple manufacturing facilities and delivering a common, exceptional customer experience from installation and start-up through aftermarket services and support.
