Packaging Snapshot: The Dow Chemical Company introduced several new product innovations at PACK EXPO in Chicago.

  • INNATE Precision Packaging Resins: Dow is launching the first commercial grade of INNATE resins, which create breakthrough opportunities1 for high performance, sustainable2 food and industrial packaging solutions. A family of PE resins born from a breakthrough, patented molecular catalyst coupled with advanced process technology. Dow introduced this new family of resins last year because customers said there were performance gaps in the industry that needed to be addressed, including light weighting, food preservation, sustainability and processability. INNATE resins address many of these gaps and provide converters and brand owners with a product that has an unprecedented balance of toughness and stiffness in combination with excellent tear and puncture resistance.
  • DOWLEX GM LLDPE Resins: Dow is launching three new grades of DOWLEX, that are powered by a leading-edge catalyst technology that helps customers achieve differentiated performance for a range of demanding film applications including heavy duty shipping sacks, cast or blown stretch, collation shrink and liners. DOWLEX GM resins optimize output rates and processing efficiencies leading to higher returns on invested capital. They can run on existing monolayer equipment and provide a higher yield with low melt temperatures and low back pressure required. The resins are engineered for consistent operations and product integrity, and can potentially achieve up to 10 percent downgauging without sacrificing performance. Its lower seal initiation temperature provides brand owners and co-packers broader seal window on their form fill seal lines and increased FFS line speeds for greater productivity.
