AB Mauri North America, a leader in yeast and bakery ingredient products and solutions, will endow two new college scholarships for Kansas State University’s Bakery Science and Management program. The company has committed $50,000 to fund the scholarships over the next five years.

Kansas State University’s Bakery Science and Management program is the only four-year degree program of its kind in the United States. Annually, two students enrolled in this program will each be awarded a $5,000 AB Mauri North America Baking Scholarship.

“We’re excited to make a significant, long-term commitment to the baking industry,” said Rick Oleshak, vice president of marketing, AB Mauri North America. “Education is one of the greatest investments you can make, and we’re proud to partner with Kansas State University as they help train the future leaders of our industry.”

Recipients of the scholarship will be students who demonstrate baking excellence, leadership skills and an understanding of baking trends. The first scholarships will be awarded for the 2017-18 academic year.

“As a graduate of the program, I can speak first-hand of the quality education and critical thinking skills I gained during my time at Kansas State,” said Paul Bright, innovation manager, AB Mauri North America. “The food science challenges of the future will be solved by the students of today, and it’s vital to support their academic pursuits.”

“We are honored to have AB Mauri invest in our students and our program,” said Dave Krishock, BNEF Instructor, Kansas State University. “The company’s generosity and vision will impact our industry for years to come.”
