Synopsis: This computer-animated epic tale
presents a new twist to the classic fable of a young chicken that causes
widespread panic when he mistakes a fallen acorn for a piece of the sky.
Chicken Little is subsequently determined to restore his reputation; but
just when things are starting to go his way, a real piece of the sky falls
on his head. Suspense, chaos and laughter ensue.
Licensed Candy Tie-Ins: Cap Candy, a division of
Hasbro, Inc., has an assortment of novelty treats for Chicken Little fans,
available nationwide since September with an approximate retail value of
$1.99-$3.99. Chicken Little Flip Book Candy features a flip book holder (so
viewers can watch Chicken Little step up to the plate and swing the bat)
filled with candy treats tucked inside. Chicken Little Treat Keepers
Assortment is actually two plush collectibles (Chicken Little and his
baseball) with sour candy tucked inside. Chicken Little Pop Toppers (choice
of Chicken Little or Baby Alien) protect lollipops and feature a keychain
clip. The Chicken Little Spin Pop Assortment include Chicken Little
taking a swing of the bat and Baby Alien’s three eyes moving all
around as the lollipop spins on top.
First released in Europe, the Chicken Little Pez trio dispensers
began shipping in the United States on October 1. The assortment includes
three characters: Chicken Little, Abby the Ugly Duckling and Fish Out of
Water.
King Kong

Synopsis: An expedition to
mysterious Skull Island leads to the capture of a gigantic ape, which is
brought back to New York. The creature falls in love with a beautiful
actress and breaks out of its confines to terrorize Manhattan. This is a
remake of the 1933 classic.
Licensed Candy Tie-Ins: Well in advance of the
movie release, Taste of Nature debuted two Kong candies in October. The
2.5-ounce Kong Cotton Candy has a nine-month shelf-life and features three
flavors inside — pina colada, circus pink and blue raspberry; the
3.5-ounce Kong Sour Gummies (in the shape of King Kong, of course) are
available in open stock 30-count and 12-count cases. The gummies are also
available in 14-count display trays and floor shippers for quick and easy
merchandising. The Kong Cotton Candy comes in a 24-count case and can be
placed on clip strips.
Also available in October, Au’some Candies King
Kong Collection features Sweet Spin Yo-Yo, Movie Camera Candy Containers,
Power Pop Candy, Light & Sound Candy Dispensers, Klik Candy Dispensers,
and Mighty Chew Bubble Gum, which includes Collectible Stickers and a
Laser Sticker.
The Nestlé campaign, which also kicked off in
October, includes King Kong packaging graphics featured on more than 10
million units of the company’s top-selling candy bars including
Nestlé Crunch, Butterfinger and Baby Ruth.
