Spee-Dee announces personnel changes
The brand welcomes a director of sales and VP of business development.

Derek Klein
Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery announced the appointment of Derek Klein as director of sales. Concurrently, Mark Navin, who previously served as Spee-Dee's VP of sales, will move into the role of VP of business development, where he will lead Spee-Dee's strategic sales operations, including key account development, expanding international sales initiatives and strengthening OEM partnerships.
As director of sales, Klein will aim to leverage his extensive background in managing complex product sales and building strategic partnerships to execute the company’s sales strategy. He has over three decades of experience in business development, project management, and sales leadership across the industrial automation and medical device sectors.
Klein holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University. Most recently, he was strategic alliance sales director at Merz Aesthetics, where he was responsible for managing the sales activities of strategic business partners. Klein also has significant international sales experience, having previously worked for two European-based automation suppliers.
As VP of business development, Navin will focus on expanding Spee-Dee's global footprint while working with major current and prospective customers to increase adoption of the company's American-made filling and checkweighing solutions both domestically and internationally. A longtime packaging industry ambassador, Navin was elected to the PMMI board of directors in November 2025.
"All of us at Spee-Dee are excited for this transition and grateful to bring Derek to the company, and specifically to the sales team," says Navin. "His experience and leadership will be key to helping Spee-Dee grow in the coming years."
