Certified Laboratories Inc., a private independent laboratory that serves the food industry, has purchased Food Safety and Technology and will use it to start up the Certified Food Safety Center.

The center’s core focus will include thermal and non-thermal validation services, process authority work, challenge studies and consulting.  

The Newman, Calif.-based center will remain under the direction of Rick Falkenberg, its chief technical officer. Falkenberg has worked extensively in process approval and with various food safety issues. He is a fellow in the Royal Society of Health and serves on 3M Corp.’s Scientific Advisory Panel.

Certified Laboratories, based in Plainview, N.Y., also operates labs in Southern and northern California.

Certified Laboratories, Inc. was established in 1926, and since its inception, has been involved in food safety, using its expertise in food chemistry and microbiology.
