MegaMex Foods, a joint venture between food and meat products company Hormel Foods Corp. and food and beverages supplier Herdez Del Fuerte SA de CV has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Don Miguel Foods Corp.
MegaMex Foods LLC, a Chino Hills, Calif., food company known for itsEl Torito, Chi Chi’sandLaVicroria brands of Mexican foods, purchased Don Miguel Foods, an Anaheim, Calif.-based maker of authentic frozen Mexican foods that also provides microwavable items such as tacos, burritos, enchiladas and taquitos.
The business will be purchased for an undisclosed sum from TSG4 LP, a private equity fund sponsored by TSG Consumer Partners LLC and private investors.
Don Miguel Foods’ branded frozen and fresh appetizers, snacks and hand-held items range from mini tacos and flautas to empanadas, burritos and roller grill items, among others. The company has a manufacturing and distribution center in Texas.
The transaction is expected to close in October.
