After a year of change due to scheduling conflicts, the Tortilla Industry Association (TIA) went back to a formula that proved successful in the past and will hold its 22nd annual convention and trade exposition Sept. 12-13 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev. With the move, the TIA Tech Seminar will be held May 23-24 in Anaheim, Calif.

The association says that the move was made possible because of hotel scheduling conflicts. TIA considered some incentives to change the dates, but instead opted to return to the traditional September timeframe after adjusting it for the 2010 International Baking Industry Exposition.

While satisfying members who preferred the fall timeframe, TIA negotiated $89 nightly room rates at Caesars Palace, a larger exhibit hall and additional discounts and upgrades.

The spring TIA Tech Seminar features reports on Good Manufacturing Practices, third-party audits, sustainability and LEED certification, tortilla trends, new product formulation and important information on commodities. Additionally, there will be plant tours at JC Ford, Lawrence Equipment and Casa Herrera, which supply equipment to the tortilla industry.
