Bruegger's Bagels joins effort to end childhood hunger in America
One in five children in America doesn’t get enough to eat each day, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To do its part, Bruegger's Bagels, Burlington, Vt., kicked off a fundraising campaign on Sept. 4 to support Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry campaign (www.nokidhungry.org), joining thousands of restaurants nationwide in the fight to end childhood hunger in America.
Bruegger's will raise money through its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/brueggers) and in the company's 300-plus bakeries across the U.S. On Facebook, people can simply "Like" Bruegger's and the bagel leader will donate $1 to Dine Out For No Kid Hungry (www.dineoutfornokidhungry.com). In the bakeries, guests can purchase coupon books for $3, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the campaign. Each $3 purchase helps provide a child with up to 30 nutritious meals, and guests can use the coupons, worth more than $20 in approximate value—including free bagels, soups or sandwiches (some with purchase)—throughout the year.
