Sucralose nears the top in non-nutritive sweeteners
FoodingredientsFirst’s ingredient focus presentation indicates that sucralose is the second most popular non-nutritive sweetener tracked in global product launches from 2010 to 2011. The greatest growth for a market subcategory using sucralose in 2010-2011 was juices and juice drinks. The number of tracked product launches in the subcategory grew from 1.1% to 1.8% in 2011.
Acesulfame K is still first. Stevia, a natural non-nutritive sweetener, is sixth, featuring in 10.3% of the tracked product launches in 2010 and 2011 featuring non-nutritive sweeteners. Most products will contain a blend of non-nutritive sweeteners. Savory and salty snacks is the ninth market subcategory using sucralose.
