Continental Mills purchases dry mix manufacturing facility in Illinois
Continental Mills Inc., Tukwila, Wash., acquired a 190,000-sq.-ft. dry mix manufacturing facility in Effingham, Ill., from Harlan Bakeries, LLC, Avon, Ind., effective Dec. 27. Built by Krispy Kreme in 2001 and sold to Harlan Bakeries in 2008, the facility can manufacture up to 225 million lbs. of dry mixes and increases the company’s manufacturing footprint, which includes facilities in Kent, Wash.; Hopkinsville, Ky.; and Manhattan, Kan.
“The purchase of this facility expands our manufacturing capacity in the East and supports our long-term growth strategy,” says John Heily, president and CEO of Continental Mills. “We are very excited to integrate the facility and employees into our organization.”
