For the first time in over 20 years, a new Nutrition Facts Label was unveiled on May 20, 2016. For the Nutrition Facts Panel, manufacturers have three years to comply. This latest update accompanies many other labeling requirements which will impact package design including GMO disclosure, health claims, natural claims, agency-specific labeling, vending labeling and many more. In an effort to navigate the overwhelming labeling landscape for food manufacturers, SNAC International and Food Directions, LLC are offering the Label-Con Workshop, Nov. 17-18 at the Sheraton, Baltimore Washington Airport.
“No matter what type of food you produce, the numerous upcoming labeling requirements have created a high pressure regulatory environment that the entire food industry must move quickly to comply with,” said Tom Dempsey, president and chief executive officer, SNAC International.
