Flowers Foods bakeries achieve ENERGY STAR certification
Thirteen Flowers Foods bakeries have earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ENERGY STAR certification, with more than half scoring in the top 10 percent of similar U.S. facilities for energy efficiency and meeting strict EPA-established performance levels. Leading the honored Flowers bakeries was Alpine Valley Bread Company in Mesa, Ariz., which scored in the top one percent.
“I am incredibly proud of the bakeries and their team members who have worked diligently to earn the EPA’s 2019 ENERGY STAR certification,” said Margaret Ann Marsh, Flowers’ vice president of environmental sustainability. “These bakeries, along with our 34 other bakeries in the U.S., are dedicated to reaching and surpassing the sustainability goals we’ve set for 2025.”
