Chef David Chang of Momofuku wins big on 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' TV show
On Sunday, November 29, Chef David Chang, founder of Momofuku, was the first-ever celebrity to win $1 million on the TV game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?. Popular in the early 2000s, the game show was recently revived on ABC, with Jimmy Kimmel as host, and contestants include celebrities, who donate their winning to charity, and COVID-19 front-line and essential workers.
The show was originally on British television. Since its start in 1999, only 13 people have ever won the $1M top prize on the American version—and just six on the British version. Chang is now the first celebrity contestant to win the $1M prize.
