Chuao's latest campaign focuses on bloggers

Chuao Chocolatier’s latest promotion is focusing on consumers with influence - bloggers.

The company is targeting its marketing for a Valentine’s Day contest to blogs, asking bloggers to promote it on their websites.

The promotion will feature the chance to win a free San Diego Getaway and free chocolates as well as discounts for both bloggers and readers of blogs, the company says.

As part of the campaign, bloggers are encouraged to write about Chuao’s products, including: Love Child bonbon (an aphrodisiac blend of a port wine drenched dried strawberry in a chocolate ganache), a Firecracker bonbon (chipotle caramel fudge, popping candy and sea salt in dark chocolate), as well as a Potato Chips in Chocolate bar.

“So indulge on us, and let us know what you think of these delectable delights,” the company says, in a letter to bloggers. “And please offer your readers some exclusive “blogger only” deals courtesy of Chuao Chocolatier.”

Chuao then asks bloggers to include a banner ad with a specific tracking number that points readers to a website where they can enter the contest. Blogs will be the only place promoting the contest.

Specific prizes include:

● A trip for two to San Diego, which includes two nights at the La Jolla Shores Hotel, dinner at the beachfront The Shores restaurant, and a private wine and chocolate pairing event with Master Chef Michael Antonorsi of Chuao Chocolatier.

● One of 14 limited-edition Sweetheart Boxes filled with 22 signature Chuao Chocolatier bonbons featuring delectable, aphrodisiac ingredients.

Chuao also is offering blog readers a 20%-off coupon code, where readers can type “BLOGGER” on the Chuao website for the discount.

The campaign begins Jan. 20 and ends Feb. 14.
