For those who’d rather not fill their yards with political yard signs, Choclatique is offering a sweet alternative for expressing your preference this election season.

The company has created the Capitol Collection, a line of white chocolate truffles filled with chocolate ganache. Each confection sports either a red elephant or a blue donkey to represent each political party.
 

The chocolates, available in 8-, 15- and 30-piece boxes, will be sold through November, and 15% of the proceeds will go to Operation Homefront, a non-profit organization that helps service members’ families.

“We have created the perfect union in our Capitol Collection established upon principles of peace, freedom, equality, justice, liberty and the love of great chocolate for all,” says Choclatique co-founder Ed Engoron.

The chocolatier also recently launched an online line poll that allows voters to select their party or candidate of choice for president, vice president, the House of Representatives, the Senate and the Supreme Court.

Currently, a little more than 13,000 votes have been cast on the poll site, www.presidentialpoll2012.com.

“Our presidential poll is a great indication of both political preferences and the overall mood of the nation since the world’s greatest mood elevator is chocolate,” says Choclatique co-founder Joan Vieweger. “It’s fun to play with politics in a non-threatening, safe environment and it’s a ‘tasteful’ way to predict the election.”
