It’s official. Corn Products International isn’t just about corn anymore, and the company even has a new name to prove it — Ingredion.

The name change, spurred by the acquisition of National Starch in 2010, was approved by shareholders this week and likely will be used in the United States by early June.

“We are thrilled to face the marketplace with a name that says ‘ingredient solutions,’” says Ilene Gordon, the company’s chairperson, president and ceo.

The company hopes to have its U.S. units — Corn Product U.S. and National Starch — doing business with the Ingredion name by early June. The rest of North America will follow later in 2012, while other countries and regions will transition by the end of 2013.

“Service to our U.S. customers will continue uninterrupted as we make the change to Ingredion,” says Jack C. Fortnum, ex-v.p. and president, global beverage, industrial and North America sweetener solutions. “Our teams have been integrated for two years now, so we are able to deliver an expanded set of ingredient solutions to our customers — with new ideas and technologies under continuous development.”

The company is a leading global ingredients solutions provider, specializing in nature-based sweeteners, starches and nutritional ingredients. With customers in more than 40 countries, Ingredion serves approximately 60 diverse sectors in food, beverage, brewing, pharmaceuticals and other industries.
