So , I can’t decide if I: A: cannot wait with all my heart for the day when I can swipe my cell phone across the counter and pay for my bag of M&M’s. or B: The idea of turning my Android into “a debit card that also makes phone calls” scares the bejebus out of me.
I admit, it was bit strange not being in Hershey, Pa. for the PMCA’S 65TH Production Conference. For the past 10 years, I’ve been making reservations at the Hershey Lodge, always noting that I’d like to stay in the “Towers” section.
Local candy is hard to do. It’s not as simple as local fruit, or local meat, or local milk. Candy is, at its roots, a global mixture of chocolate from down south, and sugar from the fields, and fruit from out west.
Several topics on my notepad today, so I thought I’d spend some paragraphs on each one. First, I believe an ugly chapter is coming to an end in the Ivory Coast. This morning’s headlines suggest that President-elect Alassane Ouattara will finally have the opportunity to take over as the country’s leader.
Can we get a Jolly Rancher for an A? A Snicker’s for winning a trivia game? Or how about a Reece’s Peanut Butter Cup just for showing up?Nope. No more. At least not in one school district.
It’s been awhile since I thought about baseball trading cards. However, a recent article in the Chicago Sun-Times Sports Section caught my eye, which stirred up some memories. It referenced Topps celebrating the 60th anniversary of having introduced baseball trading cards, which included, of course, a stick of Bazooka bubble gum.
The Walk to Self-Realization is apparently paved with candy. Specifically, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, FUN SIZE M&M’s and little Snicker’s bars. Also, Jolly Ranchers, Werther’s Originals, and Twizzlers.
I’d like to say that the
photograph of me on the bicycle shows my commitment to being green and reducing
my carbon footprint. And although I used to ride a bicycle to the train station
in the past – about three miles one way – I’ve succumbed to the convenience of
driving a car to work these past years.
Hi. My name is Crystal Lindell and I work
for a print magazine. Yes, print as in, “on paper.” The publication has a website (two
actually), and a Facebook page and a Twitter account, but at the heart of our
work is our monthly print publication. Long story short, I rely on dead trees
and snail mail for my paychecks each month (which makes me a little crazy), but
I believe in what we do here.
