Unlike previous years, when pursuits centered on financial return, this year’s winners expanded their efforts to include community growth.

Nestle UK & Ireland is digging up packaging from its confectionary archive in an effort to spark happy memories among those suffering from dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other memory problems.

“We put a goal of $500,000 on there,” Ball says. “The money will go towards helping me move and retrofitting a new building and purchasing a new building.”

Justus Franz Theegarten launched the Dresden, Germany-based business in 1934, while Theegarten and Pactec merged in 1994.
