Wrigley was among several companies introducing sweet and spicy candy at the Sweets & Snacks Expo.

The National Confectioners Association (NCA) has announced the winners of the 2017 Most Innovative New Product Awards.

The Lovely Candy Co. has expanded its range of premium confections by adding gummy bears made with honey.

Highlander Partners, a Dallas-based private investment firm, has created Bettera Brands, LLC, a new holding company to target acquisitions in the confectionery and snack industries.

YOLO Candy is introducing its newest KaDunks flavor, Green Apple Ka-Pow. A perennial sour candy favorite, Green Apple has been added to a flavor assortment that also includes Berry Ka-Blast and Tropical Ka-Punch.

What I find most interesting about these latest deals, however, is that this marks the first time that these two companies will be producing confections on U.S. soil, particularly since both of these involve giants who have production facilities scattered throughout the world.

Wana Brands has been an innovator in the cannabis infused-products industry in Colorado since 2010. As one of the state’s original infused products manufacturers, the Boulder, Colo.-based company has developed a broad range of artisan, made-from-scratch edibles, concentrates and medicinal products, including the state’s most popular sour gummies. 

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based Ferrara Candy Co. has partnered with 7-Eleven on a sloth-themed marketing campaign that features gummies and a Slurpee flavor exclusive to the c-store chain.
