Wrigley president to retire, Mars exec named successor

May 4, 2011
Dushan “Duke” Petrovich

Martin Radvan

The president of Chicago-based Wrigley is stepping down and will be replaced by a current Mars Inc., executive.

Dushan “Duke” Petrovich, 57, is slated to retire at the end of the year, and Martin Radvan, current global president of the drinks segment for Mars Inc., will step in to fill the role, Wrigley says.

Petrovich has been with Wrigley for 36 years, and was named president in 2008 following acquisitions of the company by Mars Inc.

Although he will continue to provide guidance for Wrigley through the end of 2011, he will step out of his role effective June 30 to allow Radvan to lead business planning for 2012.

A native of Chicago, Petrovich began his career in the Wrigley finance department in 1975.

He was the first-ever Wrigley associate to rise from an entry level position to become an elected officer of the company, and over the course of his career led several key functions, including: finance, human resources, supply chain, procurement, information technology and corporate affairs.

“From generating strong business results to developing talent and engaging associates, Duke has set a very strong course for Wrigley’s future,” says Paul Michaels, president and ceo of Mars Inc. “Duke has been a key part of Wrigley for almost four decades. Looking back to his appointment in October 2008, we could not have picked a better leader to steward the Wrigley business as a new segment of Mars.”

Radvan, a British citizen who will relocate to Chicago later this year, brings 25 years of experience across a number of Mars Inc. departments to his new role.

He started his career in the UK and progressed through a variety of roles in Europe and the Middle East, gaining experience in logistics, finance, planning, information technology and general management.

From 2006 to 2009 Radvan served as chief information officer of Mars Inc., and was appointed to lead global drinks in 2009.

“I have been very impressed by Martin’s leadership of our drink business, as well as his strategic contributions as a member of the Mars leadership teams,” Michaels says. “The talent he has shown for leading and developing teams and businesses will make him a great president for Wrigley.”
