Aspiring confectionery technologists, pay attention.

Applications for the American Association of Candy Technologists’ (AACT) John Kitt Memorial Scholarship are now open. It’s a $5,000 scholarship award for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The scholarship will be paid in installments of $2,500 per semester upon verification of enrollment. It's aimed at students who show a demonstrated interest in confectionery technology, attend an accredited four-year college or university, and major in food science, chemical science, or biological science.

The application can be found here.

The deadline is April 1. The winner will be announced in May for the 2016 fall semester.

The sponsor, AACT, is a professional group comprised of technologists, operations personnel, educators, students, business staff, and others dedicated to the advancement of the confectionery industry.

It has awarded the scholarship for the past 15 years. The scholarship was named after John Kitt in 2010 in honor of his 46-year career in the confectionery and snack industry, during which he frequently instructed confectionery training courses.
