Who ever said politicians can’t be sweet?

Rick Enstrom, whose grandfather founded Enstrom Candies in 1960, is running for the Colorado state House, according to The Denver Post. Enstrom will be facing Democratic incumbent, Rep. Max Tyler.

Enstrom Candies produces almond toffee and gourmet chocolate snacks, and has several locations throughout Colorado. In 1990, Rick Enstrom and his wife Linda opened a retail store in Denver’s Cherry Creek North, and both still manage the Denver-area retail locations.

Enstrom, 57, previously served as a Mesa County commissioner, a wildlife commissioner and a member of the Great Outdoor Colorado board. The candy company executive joined the Republican Party in 2007 after being unaffiliated, and currently lives in a House district represented by Republican Ken Summers, according to The Denver Post.

The primary elections will be held in Colorado June 26.
