The University of California, San Diego got a sweet donation recently from two of its alumni.

Michael Antonorsi, Muir ’85 and and his brother Richard, Muir ’84, founders of Chua Chocolatier Chocolate Bars, donated $8,000 to the school’s “Invent the Future” campaign, which helps fund student scholarships and graduate fellowships.

The donation caps off Chuao Chocolatier’s year-long celebratory campaign in conjunction with the university’s 50th Anniversary, the crux of which was a “winning wrapper” contest.

From October 2010 to May 2011, special 50th Anniversary Chuao Chocolatier chocolate bars were available at locations throughout campus and online. Twenty of the special-edition candy bars were wrapped in a winning ticket, which admitted the finders and their guests into an exclusive tour of Chuao Chocolatier, followed by a chocolate and wine pairing party.

For each of the 16,000 bars sold, Chuao Chocolatier donated fifty cents to the the school.

“My brother and I are pleased to give back to such an important campaign at our alma mater that will benefit and support students for years to come,” says Michael Antonorsi. “It was an honor to celebrate the 50th anniversary, and we enjoyed arousing the senses of the winners by offering them a hands-on experience at our factory.”
