According to an article by Jerry Lynottjlynott at timesleader.com, Tootsie Roll Industries Inc. purchased property and a building in Hazleton, Pa. for $12.24 million at the end of December 2008. The company plans to use the new facility as its Northeast and Atlantic seaboard distribution point, which will create around 35 new jobs. Operations at the new facility are expected to begin in late March, writes Lynottjlynott.
