The Hershey Co.’s, International President Humberto (Bert) P. Alfonso has announced plans to retire by the end of June at the age of 57.

The company is working with Alfonso to ensure a seamless transition and plans on announcing its succession plan at the end of the month.

“Bert has led our International business for the last two years, laying the foundation for future growth in these important markets," says John P. Bilbrey, Chairman, President and CEO, The Hershey Co. "Prior to his international leadership, Bert led our financial organization, instilling strong discipline and accountability across the organization. We are grateful for his years of leadership and service and wish him and his family all of the best."

The news comes at a time when Hershey is focused on growing its presence in key international markets while continuing to build its competitive advantage in North America. Additionally, Hershey says it is poised to expand its portfolio into categories beyond confectionery.

“We have an experienced management team, great talent throughout the organization and the right vision, strategy and brands to win wherever we compete. As we look to the future, we have confidence that our business model positions Hershey for continued growth in both North America and key international markets,” Bilbrey says.

The Hershey Co., headquartered in Hershey, Pa., is a global confectionery leader known for its chocolate, sweets, mints and other snacks.

The candy company has more than 22,000 employees around the world and more than 80 brands that drive more than $7.4 billion in annual revenues. It’s iconic brands include: Hershey's, Reese's, Hershey's Kisses, Jolly Rancher, Ice Breakers and Brookside.
