Melster Candies moves into new facility

Melster Candies has a new home, and it’s more than twice and big as its old facility.

The company, a subsidiary of Impact Confections Inc., has moved its production operation into a new facility in Janesville, Wis., which features more than 150,000 sq.-ft. of space.

Melster previously was in a facility about 20 miles away in Cambridge, Wis. That building was just 70,000 sq. ft., and more than 100 years old, which Melster says was keeping the company from capturing additional co-manufacturing and private label business.

Impact Confections invested millions of dollars into purchasing new equipment and ensuring the factory is designed to meet the most stringent industry regulations.

“This new facility is the foundation to continuing the fantastic growth we have seen with the Melster Candies business,” Leo Halpin, Melster candies operations manager, says. “We are actively working towards our SQF certification, and expect to have that in place in Spring 2012. Combining our new state-of-the-art facility with our known quality heritage and our position as a value manufacturer will allow us to offer both retailers and co-manufacturers the highest quality items that are made right here in the USA.”

Melster Candies makes everyday and seasonal confections, such as Circus Peanuts, Peanut Butter Kisses, Salt Water Taffy, Coconut Toasties, Chocolate Covered Marshmallow, and Crème Drops.

In addition to producing its own line of products, Melster Candies is a leading co-manufacturer for top brands across the country. Meanwhile, Impact Confection’s diverse product portfolio encompasses brands as WARHEADS, Lollipop Paint Shop, and Carousel Pop.
