Wolfgang Candy Co. has announced that it will expand its manufacturing operations.

Founded in York in 1921, Wolfgang Candy Co. is one of the oldest family-owned confection companies in the United States. Along with the recent purchase of a new plant in Loganville, Penn., the company is investing in its existing York, Penn. plant to increase storage and facilitate more efficient movement of materials.

“The expansion comes as a result of significant growth in our contract manufacturing business,” says Ben McGlaughlin, ceo.

The new plant in Loganville is 56,600 sq. ft. It will hold multiple production lines and contain packaging machinery for stand-up bags, vertical form-fill and seal, as well as wrapping and bulk packing capabilities.

The company currently manufactures Wolfgang branded products as well as products for other confectionery and snack food companies. It partners with retailers to create private label brands and has expanded its contract manufacturing business.

The new facility and projected additional sales volume will combine to create an estimated 30-plus jobs in the York County region by the end of the year.

“We are looking for qualified production personnel who want a career with a growing organization whose brand is synonymous with high-quality confection products,” says Sam Miller, coo. “We are looking forward to adding these new positions and people to the Wolfgang team.”

Products will roll off the new production line at the Loganville plant before the end of 2016.
