Gearharts Chocolates has tapped East Coast spirits producers to put a twist on its line of holiday confections. The chocolate will please wine connoisseurs, craft beer enthusiasts and whisky lovers alike.

Gearharts has partnered with New York-based brewery Ommegang to create Rosetta Cherry Ale Chocolates, which feature Rosetta, Ommegang’s award-winning Belgian tart ale. Gearhart’s signature dark chocolate is paired with a cherry ale ganache and is flavored with barley malt, hops and Michigan cherries.

The Virginia Highland Malt Whisky Truffles couple Virginia Distillery Co.’s flagship whisky with a dark chocolate ganache, all hand-rolled in Valrhona cocoa. This truffle also won Best New Food Product at the 2016 Food & Beverage Expo.

Gearharts has also partnered with three Virginia wineries to create Pod and Vine, an assortment of dark chocolates made with wine, fruit and other flavors. Barboursville Vineyards’ Cabernet Franc is paired with damson plum preserves, while Jefferson Vineyards’ Petit Verdot is coupled with raspberry jam, currants and a hint of black pepper. King Family Vineyards' Seven, a Port-style wine, is combined with hazelnuts and vanilla.

Gearharts’ Malt Caramels, which include rye malt syrup, are dipped in milk chocolate and infused with hop-infused sea salt.
